To be auctioned is a truly remarkable group of items: Al Capone’s autographed spats, a 1921 Chanel couture little black dress, Queen Victoria’s nightie and stockings, costumes created for Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes, 27 lots of Balenciaga, a trove of fashion, photographs and ephemera relating to the last queen of Madagascar, and two extraordinary ensembles worn by Lady Gaga.
