(b.1955) Anna Sui attended Parson’s School of Design from 1973 through 1975, and afterward worked for various junior wear manufacturers such as Bobbie Brooks, Glenora and Simultanee. She also worked as a stylist for photographer and friend Steven Meisel.
In 1980 Sui started her own company, designing rock and punk inspired clothing. It was not until 1991 that she had her first runway show, and soon thereafter she opened her first boutique.
Anna Sui’s clothing often show her love of vintage clothes. She also mixes cultural influences in a fun and witty fashion.
