The Pohoomull Brothers from India were exporters of Oriental textiles and other handcrafted items to the West. In the late 19th century they set up shops in areas where tourists would be shopping all around the world — and especially in the Mediterranean. Even though the items they sold were Indian made, they were purchased as souvenirs of Egypt, Malta, or Gibraltar. Some of the establishments are still in operation today.
