Headsize Ribbon

The headsize ribbon is sewn to the lower interior edge of the finished crown of a hat. On a woman’s hat the headsize ribbon is usually made of grosgrain. The ribbon is usually made in the head size of the hat, hence the name. On men’s hats the headsize ribbon is typically leather, cotton, or other fabric and is referred to as a sweatband.
