The Boe Jests label was founded in 1961 by Roy (1929-2009) and Deon (1930-2016) Boe.
Roy had also owned two New York sports teams, the Nets and the Islanders.
Deon, a graduate of Barnard and Parsons School of Design (with “Golden Thimble” top honors) had a long career as a designer of women’s sportswear. She launched several lines including Sea Weeds and Sally Forth, worked as a designer for Tanner, Inc., and is credited with inventing the wrap-around skirt.
Boe Jests went out of business in 1984.
