The Watumull family of Hawaii has been in the retail and clothing manufacturing businesses there for many years. Their stores have included Watumull’s East India Store, Watumull’s Honolulu, and Watumull’s Moana Gifts and Sundries. They were early developers of the modern Hawaiian shirt. In the 1930s they commissioned artist Elsie Das to make hand block-printed fabrics. Watumull’s is still in operation.
