Vassarette was originally the Vassar-Swiss Underwear Company of Chicago. It had been formed by 1900 as a maker of “ribbed union suits for gentlemen” and women’s underwear. In 1951 the Vassarette label was formed by parent company Munsingwear, as a label for its women’s lingerie. In 1958 Vassarette was combined with another Munsingwear holding, to form Hollywood Vassarette.
Vassarette is still in operation today as a division of Vanity Fair.
