The Utex Fashion Group started out as Utility Textile Industries in 1944 by brothers Irving and Harry Gurberg in Victoriaville, Quebec. A line of men’s shirts with a western flair called “Utexans” was their first line. One of their trademark products is the down-filled coat. They were one of the first companies to produce these coats in the 1970s.
