The Vintage Fashion Guild™ (VFG) is an international community of people with expertise in vintage fashion. VFG members enjoy a wealth of resources, avenues for promoting their shops and specialties, and camaraderie with others who share a common interest and passion.
Donna Karan started her design career at Anne Klein in 1967. When Anne Klein grew ill in 1973 Karan was named head designer. Klein died in 1974 and Karan, along with Louis dell’Olio, designed the Anne Klein collections for the next 10 years.
In 1984 Karan left Anne Klein and Donna Karan New York was formed in 1985. She was a bridge line pioneer, starting DKNY in 1988. Today Donna Karan New York is owned by LVMH, but Donna is still there as head designer. Donna Karan is known for her use of black; the look is sleek with little decoration.
