Chloé is a high quality ready-to-wear company that was started in France in 1952 by Jacques Lenoir and Gaby Aghion. The fashions are simple fluid and elegant lingerie style in pastel colors. Karl Lagerfeld designed for them from 1965 to 1983. Martine Sitbon was there from 1987 to 1991. Then again in 1992 Karl Lagerfeld headed the design team. In 1997 Stella McCartney (Paul McCartney’s daughter) was brought in as head designer. In 2001, McCartney left to head her own label, and her successor was Phoebe Philo.

Recent collections included sequined embroidered two-piece outfits for evening, lace tops, dresses and jeans. Their I Love You tee shirts are now elevated to collectors items.

See by Chloé is the house’s trendy youth diffusion line inaugurated by Stella McCartney in 2000 and successfully developed by her successor Philo since its launch in 2001; it is licensed for production by Italian clothing manufacturers, Neo Res Spa.

In January 2006, Philo resigned from her position at Chloé. Hannah MacGibbon was her replacement. In 2011 Clare Waight Keller was hired as the designer of Chloé. In 2017 Natacha Ramsay-Levi became the creative director.
