CG Design was created in the late 1980s in New York City by Curt Wagner. The company specialized in very trendy printed tee shirts. Curt Wagner worked previously for Perry Ellis where he had developed printed tee shirts that were a big hit.

CG Design branched out into men’s wear in the mid 1990s but closed production by 2000. Curt Wagner went on to design for Nautica. It is said that CG design is responsible for the trend and popularity of the vintage tee look in the 1990s.
