Herman Messing founded Carillon Lingerie in 1943 at 15 East 30th Street, Manhattan, and was very successful. In the 1950’s Carillon expanded into an enormous custom built factory in Brooklyn. Carillon produced a wide range of stylish women’s undergarments and sleepwear. Unfortunately, cheap goods from Europe emerging from WWII as a result of the Marshal Plan undercut Carillon’s prices to the point that the company folded in 1962. Carillon Lingerie was incorporated 5/14/1945 and dissolved 12/16/1968.
