Regarded as the grandfather of Hawaiian fashion, Nakeʻu Awai held his first fashion show in 1974. His blend of classic aloha wear with bold, detailed designs, and modern silhouettes were created in his Kalihi shop and have been carried by local stores such as Carol & Mary and Liberty House.
