Edie Adams, (1927–2008) was a Tony Award winning entertainer and businesswoman. Born in Pennsylvania, she learned how to sew from her grandmother and made her own clothing from the sixth grade on. After high school, she studied briefly at the Traphagen School of Fashion Design in New York City, but left to enroll at Juilliard where she earned a Vocal degree. Her long and varied career as an entertainer spanned stage, film, television and commercials. She was married to comedian Ernie Kovacs and often appeared with him on his popular TV show. She took the family name Bonham for her first fashion label, later adding the EDIAD label for evening wear. Her designs were sold at Neiman Marcus and other upscale stores.
