The Vintage Fashion Guild™ (VFG) is an international community of people with expertise in vintage fashion. VFG members enjoy a wealth of resources, avenues for promoting their shops and specialties, and camaraderie with others who share a common interest and passion.
Sonia Rykiel (1930-2016) started designing for her husband’s boutique, Laura, around 1962. In 1968 she opened the first Sonia Rykiel Boutique. Throughout the 1960s she was known for her snug-fitting sweaters and sweater dresses.
The label “Inscription Rykiel” dates from 1989. In 1999 it was changed to “Sonia/Sonia Rykiel.” She was known for her work in cotton velour and for putting the seams on the outside of garments.
