Krizia was founded in 1954 by Mariuccia Mandelli (1933-2015). During the 1950s and early 1960s the company produced mainly dresses and separates. In 1967 they launched a line of knitwear that became very successful.
The company grew through the 1970s and 1980s to become one of the leaders of the Italian fashion world. Mandelli has directed the company with the help of various designers through the years, including Alber Elbaz in 2000 and Hamish Morrow in 2003-2004.
