Gigliola Curiel was an Italian fashion designer who was part of the Italian Fashion center, which formed in 1948 to promote Italian couture on an international scale. Curiel was the first Italian fashion designer to sign an exclusive contract with Bergdorf Goodman in the United States. This contract began in 1955 and women could custom order their clothes from her. She designed garments for Bergdorf customers until her death in 1969.
