John Cavanagh (1914-2003) As a young man John Cavanagh worked for the house of Molyneux. After serving in WWII, he was at Balmain from 1947 until 1952 when he opened his own couture house. He was known for his understated, elegant designs, and he worked often with members of the Royal family. He also did ready-to-wear starting in the 1960s. Cavanagh closed in 1974.
