P.J. Walsh was a dressmaking division of Lynnwear Corporation. It appears that the line was named for designer Phyllis Walsh.

In 1976, the company hired Nicole Miller to be the head designer. In 1981, the company went into bankruptcy, so Miller and Bud Konheim bought the Walsh division in 1982, formed a partnership and changed the name of the company to Nicole Miller.
