Rooster was a privately owned US tie manufacturing company that started in 1957, registered address 40 Third street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the beginning Rooster sold only square ended ties with horizontal patterns woven in cotton and wool aimed as novelty gift purchases in a few menswear stores, boutiques and gift shops. Their advertising slogan was ‘Express yourself with Rooster Ties’.

Rooster were one of the first tie companies to offer seasonal selections for spring and fall.
They expanded rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s due to the success of their knitted ties when colourful neckwear came back into fashion. The company went on to sold under many labels: Rooster, Roosterknit, Pips (novelty prints aimed at younger men), Savoy and Cacharel Cravates (modish silks).

Since 1976 Rooster’s principle owner was Richard Aron, head of M.Aron Corp. a New York tie manufacturer.
In 1985 Rooster moved to larger premises, with the help of some large loans, and were manufacturing own label ties for exclusive menswear stores, and making both square end and pointed ties, knitted and woven ties in silk wool and cotton.

The company filed for bankruptcy in 1989 and was put up for sale.
