The Octonek Knitting Company of Seattle, Washington was founded in 1913 by J.H. and Theresa Breece. Their wool knit products included sweaters, golf vests, and hosiery. A 1935 advertisement listed “knitted suits and dresses, sweaters, wool socks, mittens, caps for skiers, caps, and gloves”. An Octonek catalogue published in 1946 claimed the company was “the largest manufacturer of College and High School Award Sweaters in the West”. Octokek set itself apart from its competitors by offering to custom-tailor garments to the individual’s measurements.
