The Vintage Fashion Guild™ (VFG) is an international community of people with expertise in vintage fashion. VFG members enjoy a wealth of resources, avenues for promoting their shops and specialties, and camaraderie with others who share a common interest and passion.
Dries Van Noten was born in Antwerp in 1958, into a three-generations-old family of tailors. Even as a child there was little doubt that he would pursue anything but a career in fashion design. In 1985, Van Noten started his own company and began designing women’s wear, debuting in Paris in 1993.
Today Van Noten has a large following in Europe, Japan and the US. He is a minimalist who favors spare lines and dark color palettes and is known for his use of figure-defining jersey fabrics, sleek suits with jackets buttoned on the diagonal, long duster coats, and matte sequined evening dresses. His designs appeal to eclectic women who appreciate gently layered, softly colored, and unrestricting clothes adorned with an occasional odd sparkling accessory.
