Cathy McGowan was referred to as the Queen of the Mods. In 1963 she was chosen to be the hostess of the new pop music television program Ready, Steady, Go! As such, McGowan became a high profile style leader, wearing on-screen the latest mod fashions from such boutiques as Foale & Tuffin and Biba. By the mid 1960s all the fashion world tuned in to her Friday night program so as to be able to rush the dress she was wearing (or copies of it) onto the sales floor for the Saturday afternoon rush.
It was only logical that she be given her own label during this time period.
