Martha Manning Originals was one of the many clothing manufacturers based in St. Louis, Missouri. Formed in 1939, they specialized in dresses for mature women. As they put it in a 1946 advertisement: “Martha Manning Originals are scientifically fashioned to wish away pounds and years. You appear taller, slimmer, lovelier… the you, you want to be, in a Martha Manning.”
