Irving Karshan was vice president at Hattie Carnegie before leaving to open his own store at 24 E. 64th St in New York. The space just off Madison Avenue is in a high end neighborhood which is currently occupied by Pucci. In the mid-1960s Karshan sold women’s high quality daywear and cocktail and evening dresses with prices starting at around $47 (that’s $300 in 2008).
