Gay Gibson was one of the many Kansas City, Missouri labels. The women’s clothing industry there was thriving during the 1930s-1950s, producing mid-priced clothing. The Gay Gibson label dates from 1937. The label was actually owned by the Gernes Garment Company; there was not a person named Gay Gibson.
