Darlene Knitwear incorporated in 1953 in Manchester, New Hampshire as a manufacturer of fully-fashioned knit garments. Perhaps best known for its hand-screened French angora and lambswool blend sweaters in the mid-1950s and early 1960s, the company also made swimsuit and nylon hosiery. Headquartered at 1407 Broadway in New York, it also operated a knitting mill in Montreal, Canada where a number of exclusive blends with names like Andelon, Dartex, Minklander, and Fabulou were made. Darlene was in business into the mid-1980s when production ceased.
