Camp Corsets was established by Samuel Higby Camp in 1908. His corsets had what seemed to be an elaborate system of lacing which resembled a fan. Actually, the lacing used a system of pulleys that made it possible for a wearer to lace and tighten her own corset.
The Camp company made corsets throughout the 20th century, and they also made bras and surgical supports. The company is still in business, and is owned by an Irish firm, Trulife.
