Emilio Schuberth is considered to be the father of modern Italian couture, having helped the discovery of many famous Italian designers, including the Fontana sisters, Alberto Fabiani, Vincent Ferdinand, Giovannelli-Sciarra, Mingolini-Heim, Garnet and Simonetta Stefanelli – both Valentino and Roberto Capucci studied with him. He was popular during the 1940s and 50s, and dressed many celebrities, including Princess Soraya, Rita Hayworth, Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida and Anna Magnani.
