Maisonette was a product of the Ward-Stilson Company of Anderson, Indiana, which had been in business since 1889. They produced men’s shirts under the Stilson label and women’s house dresses under the Maisonette label.
Originally sold in department stores, by 1926 Maisonette Frocks were sold by direct sales only. Women were hired to act as sales representatives for the company. For a short time in the early 1930s, there were even Maisonette cosmetics.
The company appears to have closed around 1960.
