Fashionaire was a ladies division of Hart Schaffner and Marx, a manufacturer of men’s wear since 1887. They were the first suit maker to advertise nationally and introduced the zippered trouser in 1936. As a result of the Women’s Army Rights Movement, the US Army hired Fashionaire to design uniforms for female cadets.
