Jute

Jute, like linen, is a bast fiber, produced from the stems of plants of the Corchorus genus. The plants are grown and processed into fabric most especially in Bangladesh, also in parts of India, China, Thailand and Nepal. It is one of the easiest and cheapest fibers to produce, but it weakens when wet and is not considered very durable.

Jute is often used to make burlap for bags, and is used for cords and ropes.
