Everybody Loves a Parade! This week: “Spot of Tea Length”

The VFG has a parade every day – a VINTAGE parade, that is!

Each week the VFG seller members are invited to show off their vintage that fits a theme. Themes change from week to week, highlighting a theme for the season, a particular color or style, or something just for fun. We have some really fun themes coming, so why not join us in the Fashion Parades Forum to see what comes by?

In spring and fall the members of the Vintage Fashion Guild round up modern fashion trends that seem inspired by trends of the past for our Vintage Inspiration feature. This fall once again we present our pop-up vintage shop of over 100 fabulous finds.

Each spring and fall the VFG sleuths out the historical influences on modern fashion – the Vintage Inspiration.

Designers took 1950s-style full-skirted sundresses out for a spin at the fashion shows this spring, and found new inspiration in black and white, especially mod 1960s looks. With all the eyelets, openwork and cut-outs to be found in spring 2013 collections, it is hard not to think of the vintage ways of achieving these lacy effects. Finally, 1930s-style florals brought charm to the runways, a sweetness borrowed from our mothers’ and grandmothers’ closets.

This fall, designers have been inspired by the opulence of brocade and the impact of the perfect hat. They have trolled the sartorial splendor of vintage menswear, reconceiving it for women. Finally, every shade of green seems to have been seen on fall runways…and need we remind you that with vintage you always go green?

Vintage Inspiration is here, and the news is that vintage is more and more inspiring!

Once again this fall designers are inspired by vintage fashion including the dash of the 40s and the pop of the 60s. Runway trends of velvet and shades of wine red are great for style seekers with a love for authentic vintage.

We invite you to join us for a new VFG workshop on our public workshop forums. This workshop will be conducted by VFG member Linn Alber of Linn’s Collection. The workshop will cover Vintage Costume Jewelry:1920s-1960s.

Join us October 18-22 for this 5 part workshop series. A little sneak preview of what you might expect to see in the photos below: a beautiful Boucher floral Brooch with rhinestones and pearls and a stunning Trifari fur clip from 1940, with ruby cabochons and blue moonstones!

Even when the “live” workshop is over it will remain a wonderful and valuable resource for vintage costume jewelry.
