Rentner, Ira

Ira Rentner was a member of the famous Rentner family of fashion that included father Louis, brothers Maurice and Harry and sister Anna Rentner Miller. Born in Poland in 1898, Ira immigrated to the US as a child in 1901.

By 1932 he was President of Ira Rentner-Miller at 205 W 36th St. William Miller was apparently his partner. (NOTE: Anna’s spouse was Charles Miller). The company is listed under this name both as a FOGA member in 1941 and in city directories through 1949. By 1942, the company had moved to 498 7th Ave. and was still there in 1960. In 1946-47, Renter showed at the Junior Dress Creators Fashion Guld show. The name change to Ira Rentner (sans Miller) happened by 1953.

Rentner died in 1990.
