John Moore attended Parson’s School of Design, where he was sponsored by Norman Norell. He worked at Elizabeth Arden in the late 1940s, was at Jane Derby for a short while, and designed for Talmack throughout the 1950s. While at Talmack, he won the prestigous Cody Award.

His own label dates from 1963. He was from Texas and so was chosen to design Lady Bird’s inaugural gown. John Moore closed his business in 1970. He worked for a short time for another ready-to-wear firm, but retired in 1971.
