Founded in 1932 by Lebanese immigrants and brothers Ernest, William and Bert Malouff, Mode O’Day was known for attractive and budget-priced garments for women. The brand started in Glendale, CA and spread via independently owned franchises. The headquarters supplied display materials and other needs of the franchise holders’ shops, which were most often on the main streets of small towns.
In 1961, the Gamble-Skagmo Corporation, which owned retail chains, purchased Mode O’Day. The company was rebranded to “Fashion Crossroads” in the 1980s. One franchisee purchased the franchise and continues in a store in Casper, Wyoming.
