The Vintage Fashion Guild™ (VFG) is an international community of people with expertise in vintage fashion. VFG members enjoy a wealth of resources, avenues for promoting their shops and specialties, and camaraderie with others who share a common interest and passion.
Frances Henaghan was born in St. Louis, MO, and grew up in Los Angeles. She studied design in L.A., and later in Italy, but claimed that her real training came when she worked for costume designer Edith Head at Paramount Studios. In 1978 she was credited as providing “special fashions” for the film Harper Valley PTA. During this period she also designed a series of Prominent Designer mail order patterns.
Known as a “classic” designer, Henaghan’s aesthetic tended towards soft-dressing and a neutral palette. Her ready-to-wear clothing was carried by high-end department stores like Saks and Lord & Taylor, and ads for her clothing appeared regularly in Vogue into the 1980s.
