Wilson Folmar was the head designer of the custom department at exclusive department store Jay – Thorpe from 1936 – 1956. He also designed for Ben Gam and Maurice Rentner in the 1950s and in 1957 he became the designer for Edward Abbott. In 1964, he formed his own company, Wilson Folmar, Inc., which produced a line of medium to high priced cocktail and evening clothes. The company went out of business in 1972.
