Harry Collins was one of the first well known New York designers. He exhibited Plains Indian inspired ensembles at the American Museum of Natural History in 1919, vied with Lucille to dress early film stars and wrote The Art of Dress in 1923. Germain Monteil was one of the designers for the house in its early years until she opened her own business in the 1930s.
