The House of Cheruit opened in Paris around the turn of the 20th century. Unlike most couture houses, Cheruit managed to remain open during World War I. The House was bought by Mesdames Wormser and Boulanger, who ran it for many years before selling the company to Elsa Schiaparelli in 1935.
